TURNING IDEAS INTO JOBS: THE THAD COCHRAN ENDOWMENT FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Mississippi State University established the Endowment for Entrepreneurship, naming it to honor the longtime service of Mississippi’s U.S. Senator Thad Cochran. By supporting entrepreneurial activity, the endowment spurs Mississippi’s economic development, creates jobs and improves the standard of living. The endowment is a program for the entire community and complements the growing number of entrepreneurial incentives at MSU and the entrepreneurship certificate offered by the Bagley College of Engineering.

The Thad Cochran Endowment for Entrepreneurship adds to MSU’s momentum by helping motivated faculty, students and businesses transfer ideas into the marketplace. The endowment builds on the escalating infrastructure for enterprise that exists at MSU and in the surrounding area, including the Greater Starkville Development Partnership and the Oktibbeha County Economic Development Authority. About 30 institutes of specialized expertise are on campus and in the adjacent Thad Cochran Research, Technology and Economic Development Park, including the Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems, SemiSouth Laboratories, Engineering Research Center, and the Diagnostics Instrumentation and Analysis Laboratory
